1.General introduction:
Powder coating is a dry, solvent-free finishing process that applies a free-flowing, dry powder material onto the surface of substrates. Unlike traditional liquid paint that relies on solvents for application, powder coating uses electrostatic spray deposition (ESD) technology: the powder particles are electrically charged, then sprayed onto grounded metal, plastic, or composite surfaces. After application, the coated parts are cured in a high-temperature oven, where the powder melts, flows evenly, and forms a hard, durable, and uniform protective and decorative film. It is one of the most widely used industrial surface treatment technologies globally.
Compared to traditional liquid paint, powder coating has far stronger durability. The cured powder coating film is highly resistant to impact, abrasion, corrosion, and chemical erosion, not easily scratched, peeled, or damaged. It can adapt to harsh environments such as outdoor exposure, humid coastal areas, and industrial pollution, maintaining intact appearance and protective performance for 5-10 years or longer. Liquid paint, however, is prone to fading, peeling, and blistering under harsh conditions, requiring regular maintenance and repainting to retain its function.
